Becoming Catholic
Houston Korean Catholic Church – A warm welcome to all new members!
The Houston Korean Catholic Church community warmly welcomes those seeking true meaning in life through God’s love and grace. Our church joyfully accompanies you as you seek to develop a deeper encounter with God and walk the path of faith together.
Guide to the Catechumens Program
To become Catholic, you must first receive the sacrament of Baptism. To prepare for this, you will receive regular catechumenal instruction provided by the Church. Those who participate in this course are called catechumens, and during the catechumenate, they will go through the following journey:
- Program Length: Approximately 6 to 8 months
- Education Content: Basic Catholic doctrine, Sunday Mass and liturgical etiquette, prayer and community life
- Program Structure: Catechism class once a week (usually after Sunday Mass), directly led by catechism teachers
- Baptism Preparation: A spiritually trustworthy godfather/godmother is required for baptism (if the child is baptized Catholic)
- During this Program: Catechumens can also participate in Sunday Mass and enjoy the various spiritual benefits offered by the Church and the fellowship within the community. If you need personal faith counseling or prayer support, you can always contact the priests and catechists.
- Questions: For further information regarding the Catechumens program, please contact the parish office at 713-465-2682
Through church life, you will also open new horizons in life and discover true peace and joy in Jesus Christ.
We are waiting for you now!
Whether you’re looking to start a life of faith, have been away from church for a long time but want to return, or simply want to learn more about Catholicism, everyone is welcome.
Our community will walk together so that each step you take becomes a precious journey toward God.
I look forward to seeing you again in God.
Welcome and blessings!
